Institute Profile
The National Institute for the Orthopaedically
Handicapped (or NIOH) an apex institute in
the Country, was established in the year 1978 as an
autonomous body under the Ministry of Social
Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. NIOH
is committed to manpower development, to develop model
services, conduct research, standardize aids and
appliances for the persons with orthopedic disabilities.
This is in keeping with the formation of the National
Institutes, in each of the other three categories of
Visual,
Speech and Hearing and
Mentally Handicapped as
recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Under the
objective of providing & developing model
rehabilitation services for the person with disabilities
in the out reach areas, we organize service cum training
camps in different parts of the country . We propose to
organize at least one camp in your state in this financial
year and likely to cover and benefit 400-500 disabled
during five day camp. The program will be organized in
collaboration with the state Govt. & NGOs. The date /
venue etc. may be finalized in consultation with the State
Govt.
To involve
the local available resources both manpower / professional
and infrastructure and make the services cost effective
and sustainable, we propose to prepare a panel of
available professionals in the area who may be used
subsequently in such programs and follow-ups. |
