Physiotherapy
|
Physiotherapy is a part of health care profession
which emphasises the use pf physical approaches in the prevention,
treatment and rehabilitation of diseases or disability condition.
Physiotherapy
deals with physical problems particularly those associated with Neuro
Muscular, Musculo Skeletal, Cardiovascular, Respiratory system and other
disabling conditions by means of various physical modalities. The
therapeutic methods are based essentially on movement, manual therapy
and Physical agents.
A
Physiotherapist is able to asses, plan and provide therapeutic services
to the patients.
After
successful completion of course, he/she can seek placement as
physiotherapist in hospital, rehabilitation Centres and Schools of
physiotherapy.
The
avenue for research in the field of rehabilitation and higher academic
qualification are also available.

Occupational
Therapy
|
Occupational therapy aims at providing treatment and
management to the handicapped, disabled (both physically and mentally)
so as to enable them to perform maximum possible function independently
viz. daily living activities, play, performance at the work place etc.
though therapeutic activities, training in Activities of daily living,
and when ever required by using modified, adaptive, assistive devices,
equipments, to lead their lives with dignity.
As
an indispensable part of rehabilitation of person with disabilities,
this upcoming field finds a wide scope in various Hospitals, N.G.O.s,
Spastics and Psychiatric institutes as well as in old aged home, burn
and leprosy centres etc.

Prosthetics
& Orthotics
|
Orthosis is a device applied directly and externally
to the patient's body with the objective of supporting, correcting or
compensating for a deformity or weakness. It may be applied with the
additional objective of assisting, allowing or restricting, movement of
the body. The term orthotics covers the theory and practice of
prescription, fitting, design assessment and production of orthosis.
A Prothesis is an
artificial replacement or substitute for a loss in part of full, of a
limb (extremity) due to congenital or acquired cause.
The
profession got its recognition due to sudden increase in no. of cases
requiring prosthetic and orthotic services as a result of war in early
seventies. With the development of Medical Science and need to improve
quality of life, the necessity of such professionals is increasing world
wide.
The
qualified student of Prosthetics & Orthotics has a wide scope in the
hospitals, trauma centres, rehabilitation centres and academic
institutions.

Seat
Reservations
|
- 22% and 6% seats are
reserved for Schedule Castes (SC) and Schedule Tribe (ST) candidates
respectively.
- One seat each in
Physiotherapy / Occupational therapy and Prosthetics & Orthotics
is reserved for the physically handicapped person (PH).
Nomination by ministry
of social justice and empowerment, Government of India for direct
admission.
Some seats have been
reserved for the candidates from the backward states of the country
and filled directly by the Govt. of India.

Allocation
of Course
|
Final decision on allotment of course for admission
will be made according to the order of preference given and his/her
position in the merit list.
